About Us
Opening in Fall 2026, Thomas More Classical School is a Christian K–6 classical academy in Anchorage, Alaska.
The School is a Hillsdale-supported founding effort, selected after a highly competitive application process. In 2023, a small group of Alaskans initiated discussions with Hillsdale College’s K–12 Education Office about bringing the Hillsdale American classical curriculum to Anchorage. After thoroughly evaluating the curriculum and program guide, the group submitted a business plan and application to Hillsdale, ultimately being invited to receive Hillsdale support with startup counsel and training from the K–12 Education Office. Thomas More intends to license Hillsdale’s K–12 Curriculum and offer an American classical and Christian education to families in Anchorage, Alaska.
What began with one or two families has since grown into a larger team of parents, educators, and entrepreneurs, united in their commitment to providing a better educational option in Anchorage. Embracing the time-tested principles of classical education over post-modern fads, intellectual rigor over complacency, and Christian values over secularization, Thomas More strives to be the preferred school for families in Anchorage who appreciate education’s true purpose. By cultivating the gifts and charisms of each student and fostering a culture of excellence and faith, Thomas More will stand out as a beacon of hope and quality in Anchorage’s educational landscape.

TMC forms students in Truth, Goodness, and Beauty by cultivating hearts and minds through a content-rich classical Christian education. We deepen faith, awaken God-given charisms, and equip each graduate with the knowledge and virtue needed to pursue their unique calling and live as free and flourishing Alaskans.
What Makes Us More

Formation
The strongest metals and most beautiful works of art are shaped by creators who understand the right temperatures, pressures, and techniques to produce something lasting and good. Likewise, great literature, music, and art emerge through repeated formation, just as mathematicians, scientists, and philosophers refine ideas using hypotheses, testing, and rightly formed conclusions. At TMC, students pursue moral and academic excellence in a joyfully ordered environment, led by learned faculty who model virtue and use tried & true pedagogy, content-rich books, and primary sources to form rational thinkers, cultivate moral compasses, and shape hearts oriented toward God and the Good, the True, and the Beautiful.
Discovery
Discovery is an essential part of learning—uniting the hard work of study with the joy of understanding. It builds the capacity to grasp first principles and self-evident truths through observation and experience, awakening intuition and revealing Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. At TMC, students ask questions, test ideas, and pursue what is true with the frontier spirit that defines Alaska. Discovery draws on intellectual virtue and unique charisms given by God. With a robust education in the liberal arts and sciences, TMC scholars discover human nature, the nature of the world around them, and their place in it. Rooted in wonder, they embrace the adventure of lifelong learning.

Service
Willingly offering time, talent, and treasure for the good of others, grounded in genuine love and the example of Christ, embodies service at TMC. It is both a duty and a gift—a source of fulfillment found in the dignity of the task and the flourishing of those served. Whether through community projects, helping a neighbor, or contributing to the life of the school with helping hearts and hands, TMC scholars are taught to serve with joy. Regular opportunities foster a sense of purpose and connectedness, reminding students that they are part of something great that their actions can meaningfully impact the world around them.
Goodwill
Goodwill reflects a sincere disposition to act for the good of others with kindness and integrity, laying the foundation for trust, cooperation, and friendship. As the fulfillment and form of all moral virtues, goodwill animates the cardinal virtues with love—transforming principle into presence and belief into benevolence in both private relationships and public life. At TMC, students embody a generous spirit and a readiness to be fair, compassionate, and respectful in word and action. They engage in rigorous discussion, debate, and scholarship with both moral and intellectual integrity.
